Asset maintenance, operations and renewal is a critical issue for all WSAA members. Significant capital is invested annually to operate, maintain and replace assets in ever-changing operating, regulatory, social and financial environments. It is recognised that civil, mechanical and electrical assets are critical to the successful operation and maintenance of water and sewerage assets and account for the majority of the capital dollars invested in infrastructure.

The Asset Maintenance, Operations and Renewals Network (AMOR) is one of WSAA’s newest networks, recently formed with the restructure of the Utility Excellence Committee. The Network provides a forum for the sharing of knowledge and the development of internal capabilities to advance asset management. The AMOR reports to the Asset Management Optimisation and Strategy Network (AMOS).

The inaugural meeting of the Network was held in March this year at WSAA’s Melbourne office. The meeting was attended by 19 representatives from WSAA members across Australia.  There was wonderful engagement, great discussions and the network set priorities for the group for the next 12 months.

The network will meet twice a year in person and once via conference call. During these meetings, AMOR will be focus discussions on priority areas and develop project ideas for delivery in 2018/19 and beyond.

How to get involved

The Network will next meet on Wednesday 30 and 31 August 2017 in Adelaide, with presentations and workshops focusing on key themes including data analysis, and industry recommendations from the 2016 WSAA Asset Management Customer Value (AMCV) project. The Network also uses the WSAA online community to discuss key issues, collaborate and share knowledge.

Meeting #3 will be held in early 2018 and will focus on key themes relating to decision-making processes and customer fault management.
