Health and safety in the workforce is a critical priority for the urban water industry. WSAA would like to invite our members to participate in the 2016 Health and Safety Benchmarking Project.

The Health and Safety Benchmarking Project will help utilities to eliminate or minimise potential fatalities, injuries and incidents in the water industry by assisting utilities to analyse, compare and improve what they do. The project will do this by:

  • Reporting key health and safety indicators,
  • Benchmarking health and safety indicators,
  • Sharing leading practices,
  • Promoting further collaboration, and
  • Improving reporting capability.

Project participants will be able to benchmark their own health and safety performance against other utilities using a national framework, developed by a working group the Health and Safety Network and endorsed by the WSAA Board. The framework promotes a shift to lead and cultural based safety indicators.

The project is expected to commence in late September and conclude in March 2017.
