The World Water Congress is on in October 2016 in Brisbane with seven days of activities including one day dedicated to pre-congress training, four days to conference-style sessions addressing specific themes, and one of technical tours.

WSAA is involved with a stand (come and visit us in the Exhibition Hall - stand 102) and workshops titled Digital interactions for the customer centric utility and Bringing liveable cities to life.

Digital Interactions for the Customer Centric Utility
15.30-17.00, Wednesday 12 October, Room P2
Chairs: Eve Rodrigues, WSAA and Peter Prevos, Coliban Water

How can digital engagement benefit Water Cities of the Future? Finding new ways to engage with customers, and developing strategies for effective ICT and social media use, is critical for water service providers. This workshop opens with three talks on utilizing digital tools to engage customers and deliver a better experience. Dr Silver Mugisha (National Water and Sewerage Corporation, UG) discusses social media and other digital tools to provide an immediate customer response to service delivery problems; Pheona Smoczynska (Yarra Valley Water, AU) addresses the changing service and communication needs of customers; Tim Davis (WaterAid, AU) discusses using customers to provide water quality data through mobile phones. Attendees will then join working groups on how to identify the right digital tools for the right job to provide better service.

Bringing liveable cities to life: Capturing the Value, from planning to action!
13.30-15.00, Thursday 13 October, Room M4
Chair: Jill Fagan, WSAA

How can we capture the value from calling liveable cities to action? Water wise cities that are more liveable, sustainable and resilient have become a major global sustainability issue. The purpose of this workshop is to share novel ideas about how the water sector and water professionals can contribute to more liveable cities. In addition, attention will also be given to what other people and professions should be involved? And how do we engage with them? The session will be highly interactive, with a range of speakers from inside and outside the industry that will inform, inspire, and challenge the audience. Presentations by Jamie Ewart (CRC Water Sensitive Cities, AU); John Batten (Arcadis, US); Stuart Waters (Twyfords Consulting, AU).
