WSAA would like to invite all our members to participate in this innovative project that aims to build individual’s competencies to reduce operational risk, enhance safety, improve people's productivity and generate high-quality actionable data to support benchmarking and continuous improvement.

The water sector has recently focused analysis and collaboration on addressing fatal risks. At the Water Services Association of Australia (WSAA)  High Potential Incident Forum in February 2024, technology company Area9 Lyceum and the Working at Heights Association (WAHA) presented a case study of a successful AI-Driven Adaptive Learning Project focused on falls prevention.

Following the forum, WSAA received considerable member interest to learn more about the opportunity. The WSAA People and Capability Board Committee (PCC) recommended at their February meeting that WSAA evaluate the merits of the Falls Prevention Program being conducted across the water sector.  WSAA therefore conducted a trial involving 10 WSAA Members from April to June. The PCC reviewed the trial results and methodology and due to positive feedback, endorsed progression to a subscription project.

The WSAA Board also receive information about the methodology, the results of the trial study and discussed the broader application and strategic sector opportunities.  Potential next courses may include focusing on cyber security, confined space and lock-out tag out.

WSAA considers this a very low cost ($25 per individual user) and flexible way to use AI Adaptive Learning to target a key fatal risk.  WSAA is seeking a commitment to participate by 30 September.

An Awareness Forum was held on 4 September.  It was a great chance to present the technology and methodology and hear views from current users and participants in the trial which included: John Holland, Water Corporation, Unitywater and SA Water.
