The recent W-Lab Showcase focused on the key question “How might we integrate natural systems and solutions for adaptation in improved water management?” W-Lab hosted two interactive half-day events featuring keynote speakers, breakouts with industry peers, learnings from ongoing nature-based research projects, and presentations from 5 innovative technologies.
Among the speakers were Dona Tantirimudalige, MD at Westernport Water, who spoke on floating wetlands and the importance of action-oriented optimism. Stu Farrant from Morphum Environmental discussed designing nature-based solutions, while Unitywater presented their oyster reef restoration project. Attendees also got a sneak peek at upcoming research and presentations from five technology providers.
The technology providers showcased at the W-Lab Showcase included METland, who presented on microbial electrochemically assisted treatment wetlands, IQ Energy Australia on biosolids and biochar, Gross-Wen Technologies on vertical algae wastewater treatment, Nuvoda on organic mobile biofilm media for wastewater treatment, and Carbon Space on satellite carbon footprint monitoring.
